Sunlight fills the orchard park and rows of apple trees stretch far ahead. Pip runs up, out of breath: a little puppy has slipped its lead and wandered off among the trees. You have a whole cheerful afternoon to find it, so pick where to begin.
By the flower beds, Mira the kind gardener leans on her rake. She nods warmly and says she saw a small furry shape hurry past a little while ago. She points toward two spots: the shiny pond, and the biggest apple tree.
At the edge of the sparkling pond, a tiny puppy sits shivering, its paws all muddy. It wags its tail the moment it sees you. Pip claps softly so the puppy stays calm and looks to you for the next kind step.
