Leo, in a black shirt, leans on a brass telescope at a moonlit observatory gala
Scene 01

A cipher in your palm

Beneath the great dome, diplomats and spies trade champagne and lies. A cipher, folded small, is pressed into your palm by a passing hand you never see. Then Leo is beside you, impossibly composed, watching you over the rim of his glass. He is either the safest person here, or the most dangerous.

Half a truth: Mira in a sapphire asymmetric blouse reads the cipher beneath the observatory dome
Scene 02

Half a truth

In a shadowed alcove, Mira, a cool cryptographer with loyalties of her own, tilts the card to the starlight. Half the cipher yields a name and an hour; the rest stays stubbornly locked. Leo lingers a few steps away, close enough to hear, far enough to deny it.

A blade that cuts both ways: A locked terrace, the city a spilled field of stars below. Leo lets the banter fall away at last; the cipher names a traitor, and either of you could be the mark. His hand rests near yours on the cold iron rail. Here, trust is a blade that cuts in both directions, and you must choose how to hold it.
